The main building, Davis Administration Building, was built in 1866 for Garfield Univ. and donated to the Quakers (Friends) in 1898. Garfield Univ. was built as a Christian college by the Christian Churches of Kansas. When built it was the largest educ. institution west of the Mississippi river. James Davis, a St. Louis Quaker, vowed to buy a college and give it to the Quakers using his first million dollars. Located in Wichita, KS.
