Iris-not recently added : From the Greek word meaning "rainbow" Iris was a goddess who took messages from "the eye of Heaven" to earth by the arc of the rainbow. The three leaves of the iris represent faith, wisdom and valor. Purple iris were planted over womens graves to call the Goddess to guide the dead to heaven. Dark blue or purple iris can denote royalty, yellow can be a symbol of passion, white for purity. The flowers have three petals called "standards" and three outer petal-like sepals called "falls". They can be found in almost every part of the world. I hope you enjoy the colors and beauty of iris in this gallery as much as I did in photographing them.

Daylilies : Daylilies are edible Asian perennials. The flowers may be single, double, spider, ruffled, night-blooming and all are fragrant. They bloom for about 4 weeks.
